5ozbaking chips, plus about a tablespoon more for tempering Highly recommend Ghiradelli Bittersweet Baking Chips
1poundfresh strawberrieswashed and dried thoroughly
desired toppings; nuts, sprinkles etc. optional
Instructions
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
Pour 5 oz (about half the bag) of baking chips in a microwave safe container. I use a glass measuring cup for this.
Melt baking chips in the microwave in 20-30 second intervals, stirring after each interval until chocolate is completely melted. Add in a tablespoon or two of unmelted chips and stir until completely melted. Chocolate should be glossy and thickened.
Hold a clean, dry strawberry by the stem and dip into the melted chocolate. Swirl it around until the strawberry is completely coated. Place chocolate covered strawberry on a baking sheet covered in parchment paper. Continue until all strawberries are coated in chocolate.
TOPPINGS: If using toppings, pour them out onto separate plates. Immediately after coating strawberries in chocolate, dip them in the toppings and roll them around until fully coated. Toppings should stick to the melted chocolate.
Place strawberries in the fridge for at least 15 minutes until chocolate is set. Enjoy!
Notes
Tempering your chocolate is a simple trick helps the chocolate set up beautifully—no streaks, no dull spots, just silky, professional-looking results! All you will do is melt 2/3 of your chocolate in the microwave, then add in the remaining baking chips and stir until completely combined and melted.
