creamy tahini dressing

While I love a good store-bought shortcut, salad dressing is one of those things I almost always make myself. There’s just something about shaking up a homemade blend that tastes fresher and better, not to mention the lack of weird ingredients and preservatives makes my body happy.

If you’ve never tried tahini, let me introduce you. Tahini is a smooth, nutty paste made from ground sesame seeds. It’s a staple in Middle Eastern and Mediterranean cooking, often found in hummus and sauces.

Glow Notes

Tahini brings plant-based calcium, iron, and healthy fats—plus it’s nut-free and anti-inflammatory. Olive oil (or avocado oil) adds extra heart-healthy fats without the sketchy seed oil crew. Lemon juice gives it zing and a little vitamin C boost. No dairy, no sugar, no filler—just a drizzle that loves your gut and your taste buds equally.

This dressing hits all the right notes: savory, nutty, and irresistibly creamy. It’s full of umami goodness that pairs beautifully with everything from crisp greens to grain bowls. So grab yourself a mason jar, and let’s get shaking on this flavorful dressing!

Servings: 4 people

Ingredients

  • ¼ cup smooth tahini should be runny and dry
  • 2 tbsp olive oil or avocado oil
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • ½ garlic powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • freshly ground black pepper
  • 3 tbsp water or more if you want a thinner consistency

Instructions

  • In a bowl or mason jar, mix or whisk all ingredients until well combine. If the dressing is too thick for your liking, slowly add a little water until it's the right consistency for you.

Notes

Dressing will keep in the fridge in an airtight container for up to 1 week.  Shake or mix dressing before each use.
Tahini is usually gluten-free, but check the label to make sure there aren’t any sneaky gluten-y extras hiding in there. Better safe than sorry!
